Plus some of this
I figured it out...I HAD to get out of the house and into the place that I know and love. A place where I have spend a lot of my time in the last 8 years......back into nature. Luckily that place for me is only 10 minutes away which allows me to warm my hand up, arrive, and start doing my hand therapy exercises while hiking and jogging on the trails. Beats doing all that while sitting on my couch!
While I cannot say the first day I did this created a complete turn around for my attitude and outlook, it sure was a darn good start. And I built on that every day and now currently find myself in a much better state of mind. I am still not completely happy with my current physical restrictions but I have found a way around that for the time being.
Why didn't I head out here before?
Where I should have been a month ago starting right after my crash!
A cute lizard!
But now I know what works for me and more importantly, what doesn't.
I can now live vicariously through others tire tracks too.
I have learned something from all this. It is not enough for me to only get out of the house to hit yoga and pilates classes along with doing some errands. I need more. I need to be where my passion lies. Since this is my first injury that has completely sidelined me since I started racing in 2000, I didn't know what to expect or how to handle it. I was taking it one day at a time and sinking deeper into a not so good place. Knowing what I know now, I have pulled myself back up and am feeling better about everything.
Of course, it certainly helped that our buddies from Santa Barbara were here too. They sure know how to lighten the mood if you can't tell!
Getting hit by lightening sucks!! :)
